Support Essential Workers!
2020 Campaign to Assist Seafarers Affected by Covid-19
Did you know that seafarers bring us 90% of the goods that stock our stores and supermarkets? They were “essential workers” even before the outbreak of Covid-19! But, because of the pandemic, seafarers are being obliged to work beyond their six- to nine-month contracts and have become “prisoners” on their own ships. As a result, many seafarers have not been able to be repatriated, and the prolonged separation from loved ones has thrown their lives into chaos.
Mariners' House is a lifeline for the crews whose ships dock in the Port of Montreal! Every day we welcome, transport, and assist these essential workers of the sea. Any revenue we receive from this fundraising campaign and from the sale of our limited edition t-shirts will enable us to continue to offer them the practical, physical, and emotional support they need to keep providing us with the goods we need.
